Winston Ingram Foraminifera Images

Professor Winston Ingram has worked as a scientist, photographer, artist and musician for over fifty years. He is currently retired and resides in London. These images are from his foraminifera collection of art work. He used a microscope to capture images of a variety of foraminifera. Foraminifera comes from the latin word that means "hole bearers". These are members of a phylum of amoeboid protists that are characterized by streaming granular ectoplasm for catching food. Foraminifera usually have an external shell and they are abundant as fossils for the last 540 million years.
