Metals under Microscope
Professor Winston Ingram has worked as a scientist, photographer, artist, and musician for over fifty years. He is currently retired and resides in London. These images are from his metals microscopy project. He photographed this selection using a Leica DM2700 with incident light using the 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, and 4x objectives, along with Green, Blue, UV and V filter cubes. In order to get the metals to react to fluorescence, he coated them with chemicals. Darkfield was used to enhance the background on some photos, and polarization was used with DIC to gain certain color effects.
