Winston Ingram Drugs
Professor Winston Ingram has worked as a scientist, photographer, artist and musician for over fifty years. He is currently retired and resides in London. These images are from his work with drugs. He used a thermal imaging microscope, a polarizing microscope and both positive and negative phase contrast. When needed he diluted some of the drugs with distilled water in order to create the slides for imaging. At the bottom of the page you can find descriptions of each of the drugs.
Buscopan
Scopolamine butylbromide or hyoscine butylbromide, also known by the common brand name of Buscopan®, is an antispasmodic medication typically used to relieve stomach, intestine, or bladder cramping.
Cyclizine
Cyclizine is used to prevent or treat symptoms of motion sickness andvertigo including nausea, vomiting, and dizziness.
Distilled Water
Distilled water is water that has undergone a purification process removing contaminants and minerals. It is used in a number of applications such as medical devices and laboratory experiments where the contaminants and mineral content would cause build up in the devices or alter the results of laboratory experiments.
Flupentixol
Oxycodone (Shortec)
Oxycodone is known by many brand names and is a narcotic and controlled substance used to treat moderate to sever pain.
Hypnovel (Midazolam)
Midzaolam, known by Hypnovel™ and other brand names, is a controlled substance in the Benzodiazepine drug class. It is generally used as a sedative to produce sleepiness or drowsiness and relieve anxiety prior to a surgery or procedure.
